Object Grouping
Unlike many other Adobe products, Captivate does not allow you to group object together; this means that for example, trying to apply the same Object Effect to a number of objects can be very problematic.
This independent community has been set up by Infosemantics Pty Ltd (the people that brought you Captivate's Drag and Drop Lite Question Widget) to enable Adobe Captivate users to submit ideas, vote on existing ideas, or add comments about what they would like to see developed in Adobe Captivate 6. We cannot guarantee Adobe will listen to or implement suggestions posted here. But there's no harm in trying!
To submit an idea, please click the new idea button below. You will then be asked to add a title and choose a category for the new idea. You will also have the option to add tags to the idea. To vote on an idea, simply click the up or down thumb to the left of the idea title/description. And to add a comment, click in the box below the idea.
If you would like to see all ideas created with a specific tag, you can click on the word or phrase via the tagcloud in the left navigation area under "What we're discussing". You can also view ideas sorted by Categories from the left navigation area. To return to this page, click the All Ideas link.

We need the ability to drag the pointer of text captions so that they can point more accurately to the desired place, similar to what PowerPoint allows in its Callouts.
It would be nice to be able to use buttons on Master Slides. The button properties could then be changed on each slide without needing to add buttons to every slide.
On complicated slides, it can be a lot of scrolling up and down to find the highlight box or caption you want to edit. If you could organise your timeline objects into collapsible folders, that would clean up the process a lot.
It would be great if Adobe Captivate 6 shipped with a extensive collection (think Flash CS5 Coding Snippets) of the most commonly used Advanced Actions.
This would not only be useful for existing Advanced Action users but, could also be helpful for novice users to accelerate the Advanced Action learning curve.
Ability to publish files as HTML5 so projects will play across most platforms and browsers.
Looking for a clear distinction for a completely non track-able knowledge check question and a scored quiz question. I need all the functionality of a quiz question, but the ability to completely turn off any navigation/tracking behavior on the question.
Enable the CP user to export and share Advanced Actions with other users.
We need full support for Zoom and Pan in the next major version of Adobe Captivate.
Now you can jump to the next, previous or another slide. But you cannot jump to the start of the slide you are on.

I'd like to be able to publish more than one scored quiz in a project. This would be similar to the knowledge check idea already submitted but I do want this to be scored and tracked. In a project that functions as an entire course with multiple lessons and lessons with topics, I'd like to be able to track knowledge check progress as well as provide a post-test all as separate items.
The current Captivate 5 Object Effects interface is very clunky and counter-intuitive. It needs to be redesigned for better usability. It should be possible just to drill down on any object to open up a dialog and add/edit effects.
Prior to Captivate 5 we had the Storyboard view. There was some good information such as the total run time of the project, number of slides, etc.
The only way to see the total run time in 5 is by previewing with the TOC visible.
Microsoft allows saving of Word documents in older formats. Captivate should allow saving as an older format to allow dissimilar versions to work with the same source file.
Captivate has never had great text editing options for captions. Now that Cp5 is almost Flash, why can't we get some of the cool new text editing features that came in with Flash CS5? I want to be able to make my SWF text look as good as an MS Word doc!
In Adobe Captivate 6, I would really like to have the abiility (as with many other Adobe products) to align objects using guides. Obviously, these should not be included when the user creates a runtime file (previews or publishes the project).
This is a feature that sadly has been missing from Adobe Captivate now for many years and it would be great if this could be addressed in this next version.
Captivate 4 and 5 allow minimal control of data output in the Quiz Question Review Area. This means that the Quiz Review data showing user responses and correct answers sometimes ends up underneath quiz slide objects, which looks very messy. Changing the size of the Quiz Review Area doesn't seem to do anything. In Cp6 we need far more control of how this data is displayed and worded.
In this modern software age why is it still necessary for the user to remember to save frequently. Why not have Cp perform frequent saving in the background when the computer is idle? This way, if for any reason Cp does crash, you would only lose a few minutes work, whether or not the user remembered to save.
In Captivate 5 you cannot do Save As to convert a .cptx (Captivate Project) to .cptl (Captivate Template). In previous versions of CP you could save projects as templates. This loss in Cp5 is a pain because sometimes you don't know that a project is going to require conversion to a template until you have poured significant time into its development.
The current publish options for Word doc handouts in Cp are far too limited. Cp6 should have lots of options to allow you to specify the size and location of the slide graphic, the font and formatting of Slide Notes, orientation of the handout page (e.g. landscape), custom headers and footers, logos, margins, etc, etc. These handouts are often used for managers to give approval for e-learning content. At the moment they never look great. So managers are often more critical because of the poor presentation. They're not really good enough on their own to compete with PPT handouts.

Currently, custom captions have to be designed by hand in a graphics program.
It would be great to have a small graphics program built in to design captions and apply colors. There could be four or five templates and we just apply colors.
In Cp5 the Multi-SCORM Packager app is only bundled with the ELS 2.0 Suite, whereas in Cp4 it came with Captivate alone. Since Cp5 standalone has the ability to create SCORMs I believe it is wrong not to include the SCORM packaging app with it. Taking it away has meant many users now cannot package their own multi-SCO courses.
Allow Captivate to utilize External Resources such as Images or Text that may be "read in" and displayed dynamically at run time.
I like to save frequently to avoid losing work. But Captivate 5 saves are slooowww because it also does project compression on each and every save, which can take quite a while on larger projects. Why should it have to compress the project each and every time I do a save? I want a Project Preference that would allow you to Save Only When Project Is Closing. Why should it have to compress the project each and every time I do a save? I want a Project Preference that would allow you to Save Only When Project Is Closing. That would mean normal saves are much quicker to perform. Perhaps we could have an Incremental Save that worked a bit like the very popular Incremental Publish option in Cp5?
